Stay Grounded in the Gospel of Christ

[6] “I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel,” – Galatians 1:6 (NKJV)

One of the most important things to do as a believer is to stay grounded in the gospel of Christ. Any believer who doesn’t do it will soon struggle with staying focused on God, especially when he starts encountering preachers from diverse areas, particularly on the internet, teaching various topics from the same scriptures.

Today, it’s sad that many believers don’t labour to study the Bible for themselves, making them overly rely on preachers to teach the Word. There’s nothing wrong with listening to sermons from preachers. But when your life is built on external sources of spiritual nourishment instead of knowing God intimately, it doesn’t help you grow spiritually over time. Let’s look at the Galatians as a case.

In the early church days, Paul founded the church in Galatia and taught them the gospel. However, due to his imprisonment and inability to be everywhere at the same time, other people surfaced and taught false doctrines. It was so rampant that some believers were turning away from the gospel they had received. What a tragedy! Such is the case of many lives today.

People will confuse you if you don’t get to know God well. Spend time knowing God intimately. Don’t leave your spiritual growth to chance. For that isn’t profitable in your faith journey!

You’re a blessing.

Prayer:

Father, help me to stay grounded in the gospel of Christ I have received. May I know you better each day of my life. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
