[8] “Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ” – Philippians 3:8 (NKJV)
I will always thank the ministers who didn’t give up on me when I was reluctant to hear the gospel about eight years ago. I was a stubborn but brilliant student who didn’t pay attention to God in any way. I thought life was all about academic books. But to date, by the excellency of knowing Christ Jesus, whom I love, I can boldly say that life is beyond anything this Earth can offer.
Dear friend who’s reading this, I say, with all sincerity, that it’s better to encounter Jesus at a young age. Why? Because it’ll save you a lot of time wasted in life spent on sin and other lifeless matters. Furthermore, when you supply consistency in knowing God in your faith journey as you mature physically alongside, your life’s quality will be so good.
Paul didn’t encounter Jesus until he grew up and studied all kinds of books about Judaism. And as God worked in him to transform his life all around, he said boldly in Philippians 3:8, the anchor scripture of today’s devotion, that he counts all things he had known and done, but rubbish for the sake of knowing Christ. Maybe you’re not at Paul’s level of knowing God intimately, so I guess you’ve not grasped the depth of what he’s communicating. But I want you to take a step to pursue a deeper intimacy with God today.
You don’t have to stop everything you’re doing to keep your life moving on, like quitting your job. Just dedicate at least one hour each day to be with God in fellowship (prayer, Bible Study, listening to ministrations, reading Christian books, etc.), and be consistent with it. You’ll see how much God will transform your life in a short time. May the Lord help you!
You’re a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for Your love and rich knowledge in my life. I pray, help me hold on to these powerful teachings in Your Word and live by revelation towards it. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
