[16] “holding fast the word of life, so that I may rejoice in the day of Christ that I have not run in vain or labored in vain.” – Philippians 2:16 (NKJV)
What is the word of life? It is the Word of God, which is in the Bible. This Word is very powerful. As a matter of fact, it has and still continues to transform lives for over 2000 years. Authors write many books, but the power in them fades with time. However, the words in the Bible are still potent today. Why? Because they are from the ancient God, who lives forever more.
And as Apostle Paul admonished the Philippian church to hold fast the Word of life, so it is a charge to you, dear Christian. The main reason “hold fast” is used here is because there will be several instances when the devil will tempt you to put God’s Word aside and follow the trend of the world. In fact, I have had several such experiences as a young believer. I believe you’ve also had your fair share of such problems. But God is faithful.
As long as not everyone in this world is saved, there will be people who will oppose you for standing firm in following the ways of God in every area of your life. Don’t give up. Just continue following Jesus. Posterity will always show the difference between those who chose to follow the world and those who followed Christ. May God help you!
You’re a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for giving me Your powerful word to guide my life in Your everlasting way. Build in me a fortified conscience to live by the truth embedded in it, always. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
