[25] “Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?” — Matthew 6:25 KJV
Jesus is life. Therefore, He’s the perfect definition of life. In Matthew 6:25, He said something stunning about life that contradicts what an ordinary person seeks. He said you should take no thought for your life – what you will eat, drink or wear. Why? Because life is more than these things.
Interestingly, these are the things people work hard for. You meet a young man of today, and all that he wants to do is to get a stable job, a good spouse, and children, build a house and leave an inheritance for his children. Are these things evil? Of course not. But when it becomes all that you’re living for, you’ll end up having zero inheritance in heaven when Jesus comes back.
Life is all about knowing God and Jesus, the Sent one (see John 17:3). It’s not about the vast possessions you can ever have. Here’s one truth I’ve learned over the years of serving God. If whatever you own or do doesn’t end up glorifying God or isn’t linked to your divine mandate fulfilment, it’s nothing before God.
Remember what Jesus said in John 15:5 (NKJV),
“I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.”
Without Jesus, everything you do in life is counted as nothing before God. So, in simple terms, to have a kingdom-focused impactful life, obey Jesus’ principle in Matthew 6:33 (NKJV), which says,
[33] “… seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.”
Just be mindful about investing your life into the progress of God’s kingdom. And He will keep supplying the things people work hard for without your struggle.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for Your promise that You’ll never leave nor forsake me. Today, I pray that increase my mindfulness of Your kingdom work. Let my life be spent for Your name’s sake. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
