[20] “He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” Peter answered and said, “The Christ of God.” — Luke 9:20 NKJV
Jesus was so famous during His time of earthly ministry. Many people called Him by different names. Some said He was Elijah, John the Baptist, or any old prophets in the Old Testament having resurrected back. But in all these rumours about Him, this Jesus never forgot who He was (and still is) – the Christ of God. He asked the disciples, “But who do you say that I am?” And Peter got the answer. Today, that same question has been placed before you to answer. Who do you say Jesus is? Many people have different views of His personality. But who is He to you?
You can only answer this question correctly out of an encounter you’ve had with Him, not by some sermons you’ve heard before or ministration you’ve listened to. Peter got it right because he encountered Jesus and not just heard of Him. I’m telling you that when you meet Jesus for yourself, in any way He shows up, the report of men won’t be enough to convince you that it’s just a name people profess. He’s real and ever willing to help you anchor your soul in Him. Pursue a deeper intimacy with God.
Prayer:
Father, help me encounter You in such a unique way that leaves an indelible imprint upon my life in my spiritual walk in Christ. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
