[1] “My son, do not forget my teaching, but keep my commands in your heart,” - Proverbs 3:1 (NIV)
This scripture touched my heart when I studied it intently. God, through Solomon the preacher, is telling us not to forget His teaching but to keep His commands in our hearts. God knows doctrine is contagious, and anybody’s life can be shaped with sound doctrine teaching. Guess how your life is at the moment. You know all that you know right now because God taught you, someone taught you, your pastor preached to you, you heard, read or listened to something from others or social media. I hope you’re getting the point I’m trying to make here.
Your life is influenced heavily by what you watch, read and listen to. So for God to say, keep His commands in your heart, its purpose is to help you to live unto Him in a firm way so that nothing filthy will corrupt His doctrine He has laid up (and keeps teaching you) in your heart.
For instance, many believers have allowed social media to paint a bad picture in their minds. People are learning and implementing bad things on social media in their lives, which shouldn’t be so. Do not follow what is popular but not profitable in your faith walk in the Lord. Always endeavour to keep God’s commands in your heart.
Prayer:
Father, help me to keep Your commands in my heart. I choose to guard what You’ve said about my life with all diligence. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
