Do All Things Without Complaining

[14] “Do all things without complaining and disputing, [15] that you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world” – Philippians 2:14-15 (NKJV)

Complaining is one thing that is very wrong before God. It’s about secretly dishonouring divine instruction but not having the boldness to say “no” to it. To God, it’s better to say “no” to something He told you to do rather than complain or murmur. Do you remember what happened to the Israelites in the wilderness? When they complained, God’s anger aroused and consumed some of them (see Numbers 11:1).

As you can see, complaining is something God hates. Therefore, as a Christian, it shouldn’t be a part of your lifestyle. And fortunately, God has written in His Word that we, His people, should do all things without complaining and disputing. But why? Does it mean when something wrong is being done, we can’t talk? Of course not. The goal isn’t to complain but to make an impact in this perverse generation.

When you read the verse 15, it says,

“… that you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world.”

So, the main reason why God wants us to cease complaining and disputing is because He wants us to live blameless lives. Here’s something brief I want to tell you. Pray for your leader instead of complaining about the things he’s doing, especially if he’s in civil government. It’s not easy to be a leader over anything, even in the ministry. Help your leader or the authorities by obeying God’s command to do all things without complaining and disputing.

You’re a blessing.

Prayer:

Father, help me to be an obedient person wherever I find myself. Give me the grace to pray for my leaders instead of grumbling against their actions. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
