[5] “Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand.” – Philippians 4:5 (NKJV)
Gentleness is a cherished virtue in many countries, especially among men. Many people tend to feel more welcome when you are gentle to them. Also, people don’t like others speaking harshly to them. So you see, if you’ll convince others, you need to be gentle.
Almost everybody learns to be gentle. But gentility can be expressed better by believers who walk in understanding. Why? Because such people know how to do it with sincere God-inspired love from the heart. Today, many people connect to others because of what they’ll get from them and term it networking. But God’s love is a giving and serving love, not a taking and selfish love.
As Paul admonished members in the Philippian church to let their gentleness be known to all men, so walk with this understanding. Walk with a merry heart and good conscience. But beware of evil people who try to use your gentility as an advantage to use it against you. Be thus guided.
You’re a blessing.
Prayer:
Lord, help me to be gentle to all manner of people I interact with. But guide me in the way everlasting, lest I encounter people who use my gentleness against me. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
