[17] “The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever.” – 1 John 2:17 (NIV)
How pleasant it is to hear that you’ll live forever based on one condition – that you’ll do the will of the Father. Yet, this is one of the hardest things people find it to do. You may ask why.
#1 God isn’t served with our human hands as though He needed something from us. We need His life, breath and anything else from Him to do His will (see Acts 17:25).
#2 We need the grace to serve God acceptably and in reverential fear, says Hebrews 12:28. That means you cannot do God’s will if He doesn’t give you the grace to please Him.
As humans, we are so feeble without God. In fact, it is so evident that even to speak in tongues, you need the Holy Spirit’s utterance (see Acts 2:4). Come to think of that. But God, knowing all these things and how sin is constantly increasing in the world, is still compassionate and merciful towards humankind. He continuously suffers long and even sends His servants to preach the gospel for people to repent, turn from their evil ways, be delivered from the devil’s blindness and finally live to fulfil His will.
You might think your hustle to get money in the world is your daily lifestyle, especially for men. But God didn’t create you to sweat so hard for money. He wants you to do His will so that He will bless you abundantly and live beyond this age. Every person who was in Christ while physically alone and his name has continued to remain in the world, still impacting lives, is a manifestation of the promise of the Word — that whoever does the will of the Father will live forever. Their impact still exists, and they will shine brighter in heaven, also.
Do you want God to elevate your life? Forget about your toils and pursue a deeper intimacy with Him. I’m not saying that you shouldn’t work. No! Work, but pursue Jesus as you do it. He will keep loading you with so many benefits that your work alone won’t be able to give you such blessings.
You’re a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for grace and peace. Help me to do Your will every day of my life. In Jesus’ mighty name. Amen!
