By[24] “As for you, see that what you have heard from the beginning remains in you. If it does, you also will remain in the Son and in the Father. [25] And this is what he promised us—eternal life.” – 1 John 2:24-25 (NIV)
Doctrine is contagious. It has the power to affect anybody’s life that keeps listening to it. Anybody who keeps listening to evil voices will start thinking evil thoughts. Anybody who also keeps beholding the Word of God will also become like Jesus in glory. That is why 2 Corinthians 3:18 (NIV) says,
“But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.”
So, to see to it that God’s doctrine solidifies in your life, you must keep spending time studying the Bible. That is how it works. And by pursuing a deeper intimacy with Jesus, His Word becomes the central doctrine for your life. Even more, since the Bible has all-round teachings about life, both here on Earth and in heaven, living by what is written in it is certainly for your own good. Never doubt it. In fact, according to Joshua 1:8, your prosperity depends on observing to live according to everything written in the Word by divine revelation.
Before the fall happened in Genesis chapter 3, the central purpose of why God created us was not to use cultural and humanistic definitions of good and evil to run our lives. He created us to live unto Him and to use His Word to guide our lives. Today, that is not the case in many lives, which is sad. What culture hails, God usually detests. Don’t be deceived. Stick to your godly conviction as you live every day to fulfil His will.
