[9] “A man’s heart plans his way, But the LORD directs his steps.” – Proverbs 16:9 (NKJV)
One of the most trending questions in Christianity is that if God knows all things and will direct my steps, why should I plan? I personally had that question thrown up in my mind several times, especially when I was a newbie in ministry in late 2018. But one time, I read John 16:13 (NKJV), and that was where I got the solution. It says,
“However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.”
My emphasis is on the last part: “… He will tell you things to come.” Think about that for a while. It means that anyone who partners with God to plan won’t get it wrong because the Holy Spirit will tell him things about the future. For me, I have a testimony to this.
Every creative thinker in Christ usually gets ideas from the Lord and uses them to plan his course. So Proverbs 16:9 will tell you that it’s a man’s heart that plans his way, but the Lord directs that same person’s steps. But even more, the heart of the believer belongs to God. So when you fellowship with Him, He will fill it with His ideas. Usually, every idea from the Lord is a part of His plan He wants to do on Earth.
But here’s one interesting thing about God. He will hardly tell you the details of how to fulfil the ideas He inspires your heart with. Do you know why? It’s because He is the director of your steps to the vision. That is why you don’t need to worry about the “how” behind the purposes of God concerning your life. He will direct you there. So fret not!
You’re a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for grace. Direct my steps according to the plans You inspire my heart with. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
