“For if you remain completely silent at this time, relief and deliverance will arise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father’s house will perish. Yet who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?” — Esther 4:14 NKJV
By God’s own purpose, not everyone is called to be a preacher before he can say to himself, “I am serving God.” Ephesians 4:11 (NKJV) says,
“And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers,”
If Jesus gave “some,” then obviously He gave other believers gifts that aren’t in the list of five-fold ministries stated in that verse. That means some believers are called to be in several places indirectly related to the pulpit. So that by their influence, they’ll help unbelievers know Jesus and use their positions of influence to help people, especially believers. This vision was exemplified in the book of Esther, long before Christ came to the earth.
Esther got appointed as the queen to King Xerxes (Esther 2:17), even though she was a Jew. So by human inclination, she didn’t qualify to be in that position, but she got it by favour. She was enjoying her status until a time came when a man named Haman plotted to kill all Israelites in the kingdom. But Mordecai, Esther’s own cousin who brought her up, learned of this initiative and made her aware of it.
With intense spiritual understanding and fasting, Esther delivered the whole of Israel from massacre, and Haman ended up impaled (Esther 7:9-10). What can we learn from this?
The solution to some matters we believers in Christ face aren’t in prayers; they’re in connections to people of high influence. A church may struggle to build ultramodern worship centres without the help of wealthy Christians. So as a pastor, don’t focus on what you’ll get from raising people in the Lord. No! It’s not easy but do it wholeheartedly and selflessly. God will someday raise them to a very influential level and come back to help you when you need them.
To the high-impact child of God, use your position of influence to help people, not to become stingy or lord over others; for the lives of millions depend on you. Don’t downplay the gift of cultivating the right spiritual mindset in Christ Jesus.
You’re a blessing.
Prayer
Father, raise generations in Christ who’ll use their position of influence to help people, especially in times of need. Give me a heart that focuses on bringing out the best in anyone you give me to raise in the Lord. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
