“In those days there was no king in Israel; everyone did what was right in his own eyes.” — Judges 17:6 NKJV
One failure of Samson was his negligence in raising a successor after him. He was so involved in relationships that he took his leadership anointing less seriously.
When Samson died, Israel still had leaders in various tribes and clans but no king. And because of that, the scripture says, “… everyone did what was right in his own eyes.” That means there wasn’t any leader who instituted laws that distinguished what was right from wrong in the land of Israel, leading to gross indiscipline and misconduct in the whole nation. In fact, it was so bad that Micah made an idol, convinced a young Levite to become his priest, and thought he was serving God (Judges 17:7-13).
Many people have questioned why top-class leaders are significant in our society. For such people, they see those leaders as blockades and limiters to their freedom of life and movement. But God didn’t create this world without leadership. In fact, the very reason why He created man was to have dominion over everything on the earth (Genesis 1:26-28).
There’s no dominion without leadership. Why? Because leadership gives direction unto the fulfilment of a vision. Read the Old Testament well. Any time Israel had a king who didn’t honour God, the whole nation served idols. Therefore, it’s clear that disaster strikes when there’s a lack of good leadership.
In Proverbs 29:18 (NKJV), the Word says that,
“Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint; But happy is he who keeps the law.”
From this, the cure to indiscipline is revelation (foresight), not punishment. And revelation is what gives meaning to leadership.
God gives leaders insight into the future. Hence, they discipline their lives, as well as everyone around them, to move towards the vision’s fulfilment.

God gives leaders insight into the future. Hence, they discipline their lives, as well as everyone around them, to move towards the vision’s fulfilment. That is why a good, godly and visionary father of a family will start thinking about his children’s fees before they are even born. Failure of a man to have this insight will lead him to spend his money anyhow, only to later battle with providing these necessities for children’s school. And I am sad to say this is why there are students in the university worried about how to pay school fees. Why? Because someone lacked vision.
Woe to you if you lack good leadership. Your earthly father may have failed you several times, but God is the excellent leader. He’ll give you beauty for your ashes. Why don’t you come to Him today, accept Him as your Lord and let Him guide your life Himself in collaboration with other mature believers in Christ? It’s for your own good.
Remember that the purpose of godly leadership in your life isn’t for your limitation; it’s for discipline towards a divine vision’s fulfilment devoid of evil.
You’re a blessing.
Prayer
Father, I pray, bless me with godly leadership. Genuine spiritual parenting may be rare these days, but oh God, I ask for one in my life who’ll love me and give me direction for Your name’s sake without any iota of selfishness in him. In Jesus’ precious name. Amen!
