More Evidence to Believe the Impossible to Happen

[34] “How will this be,” Mary asked the angel, “since I am a virgin?” [35] The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God. [36] Even Elizabeth your relative is going to have a child in her old age, and she who was said to be unable to conceive is in her sixth month.” – Luke 1:34-36 NIV

God never has anything to do with mediocrity. So, because of that, He specialises in giving very huge, mindboggling promises to people. And we humans, because most of us are used to doing what we can in our own strength, many find it hard to believe God for the impossible. Interestingly, Mary was one of those.

She found it hard to believe she could have a child without sex with any man, even her betrothed husband-to-be – Joseph. So when the Angel Gabriel came to announce to her that Jesus would come through her, she doubted. But instead of disregarding the Word, she asked a crucial question many believers must practice whenever we receive a promise from God. That is, How will this be?

Angel Gabriel proceeded further to explain to her how everything heaven decided to do through her. And guess what? He gave Mary more evidence for her to believe the impossible to happen. How? By citing how old Elisabeth had become pregnant with John the Baptist six months ago.

Child of God, I encourage you to not only settle for receiving promises from the Lord but also probe further to let Him explain how He will do what He has said. Doing that will give you more evidence to stand firm in your faith concerning what God has said. Aside from all these, learn to live by conviction on God’s promises and trust Him to fulfil everything He has said about your life.

You’re a blessing.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for Your precious promises in my life. Help me to keep holding on to Your promises and never faint in faith. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
