“[19] Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? [20] For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.” — I Corinthians 6:19 - 20 NKJV
Most Christians believe God cares for us and subtly neglect that this act of love from the Lord also includes our physical bodies.
When you get saved, God crucifies the flesh with its passions and desires (Galatians 5:24). However, you don’t lose your body. It now belongs to God. In 1 Corinthians 6:19, the Bible says your (physical) body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. That means God’s Spirit has His home in your physical body.
Therefore, if you mistreat it, you’re not only harming yourself. You’re also dishonouring the Lord who purchased your body with the blood of Christ (Acts 20:28, Revelation 5:9).
For example, if you’re constantly suffering to get food to eat (without any fasting going on), it’s inappropriate because your body needs food to stay alive, not prayer or Word. That implies you’ve got to stand on this revelation that your body belongs to God and pray for heaven to open daily provisions to keep it well.
Child of God, take care of your body because it belongs to God. Take care of your diet. When you’re going out, dress well, not to attract people’s attention but to glorify God. People aren’t thinking about you as much as you think they’re thinking about you.
Steward your own body in a godly manner because it’s God’s, not yours. Live unto God, and don’t let anyone pressure you to do ungodly things with your body, especially sexual immorality.
Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.
I Corinthians 10:31 NKJV
You’re a blessing.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, help me take care of my body in a way that honours your name. I pray to remain conscious of stewarding your temple to the best of my divine knowledge. Provide what I need to walk in this mystery each day. Amen.
