Don’t be too Busy to Help People

[5] “When Jesus had entered Capernaum, a centurion came to him, asking for help. [6] “Lord,” he said, “my servant lies at home paralyzed, suffering terribly.” [7] Jesus said to him, “Shall I come and heal him?” – Matthew 8:5-7 (NIV)

To me, Jesus is the busiest person. Even in heaven, He is still interceding for us (see Romans 8:34). In fact, I’ve seen only once in the Bible where Jesus was described as asleep, and even that, the disciples came to wake Him up to calm the storm (see Mark 4:38). Think about that for a moment.

With all this information about Jesus’ lifestyle, did you know that Jesus was never in a rush? He was always focused, but He never ran, according to the scriptures, no matter the situation He got called upon to minister to, including dead people. Can I tell you something? Don’t be too busy to help people.

I believe in vision, and I believe in focus. I also believe in clearing out distractions so that you can maximise time to fulfil what God has called each one of us to do. But God didn’t anoint you to be inaccessible to people to help. In fact, your mission is about people, not really about you.

However, sometimes, the people God entrust you to serve your gift to may be too many. And for that reason, helping people individually may be challenging. But I tell you that make time for people, both impromptu interruptions and scheduled appointments. It will help you minister to the needs of people individually, as many as you are able. Nevertheless, prioritise your safety, integrity, and health, lest anyone try to take advantage of your sincerity and soil God’s work in your hands.

You’re a blessing.

Prayer:

Lord, help me make time for people who may need what You have given me so I can bless generations. Thank you, Jesus. Amen!
