[24] “Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it.” – 1 Corinthians 9:24 (NKJV)
Have you watched an athletics sports competition before? If yes, you’ll always realise that there are specific rules each athlete ought to follow if they want to participate in the competition. If they break the rules and still run and finish first, they’re still disqualified. Right? In Christ, believers who walk according to the Spirit aren’t operating by human laws but by the perfect law of liberty – the Word of God (see Galatians 5:18, James 1:25). And that Word has the power to make us thrive every single day as we run our race of faith. Proverbs 4:18 (NIV) says,
“The path of the righteous is like the morning sun, shining ever brighter till the full light of day.”
Here’s truth. As a believer in Christ, if you want to focus on finishing your faith journey well, don’t follow the trends of people. Instead, follow the direction of God. Natural laws say everything deteriorates with time; God’s Word says the path of the righteous shines brighter and brighter each day. That means if you follow Earthly ways to live, which many have followed, it won’t end well with you because you’ll be investing in your flesh so much, which profits nothing, according to Jesus (see John 6:63). However, when you follow the ways of God, your life will move on from glory to glory.
People may see you to be different because of how you follow Christ. But don’t let people’s opinions overshadow God’s voice in you. Stay under God’s covering and keep letting Him lead you.
You’re a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for Your divine providence in my life. I pray that I don’t lose the tenacity to follow Your path for my life each day. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
