[16] “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, [17] that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.” – 2 Timothy 3:16-17 (NKJV)
When I entered into the world of professional work, I had some people tell me to specialise in the field of work I’m most interested in. And truth be told, that’s a great advice. However, it’s not applicable to ministers of the gospel, especially in terms of preaching the gospel. Paul said in 1 Corinthians 9:19-23 (NKJV) that,
[19] “For though I am free from all men, I have made myself a servant to all, that I might win the more; [22] and to the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might win Jews; to those who are under the law, as under the law, that I might win those who are under the law; [21] to those who are without law, as without law (not being without law toward God, but under law toward Christ), that I might win those who are without law; [22] to the weak I became as weak, that I might win the weak. I have become all things to all men, that I might by all means save some. [23] Now this I do for the gospel’s sake, that I may be partaker of it with you.”
You see, Paul had to take on multiple identities for him to keep spreading the gospel. Ministry is in phases. You cannot be rigid in one style, or else you cannot minister to diverse people. For example, if you sing in English to people who only understand French, they’ll experience the presence of God but won’t understand the lyrics of the song, making your divine impact short-lived.
You are not called to do everything. But sometimes, you must be a person you’re not used to just to preach Jesus to diverse people. That doesn’t include putting on clothes of compromise. Let Jesus be the reason for all you do. He will strengthen you.
You’re a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, help me become the all-round man of God You’ve given me the capacity to be just to preach the gospel to diverse groups of people, all for Your glory. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
