“The path of the righteous is like the morning sun, shining ever brighter till the full light of day.” — Proverbs 4:18 NIV
A righteous person, in the New Testament, is the person who has received Jesus as Lord and personal Saviour. Such a person has become the righteousness of God (2 Corinthians 5:21). Hence he (or she) belongs to the Lord.
Proverbs 4:18 (NIV) speaks about one characteristic of a righteous person’s path in the Lord. It says his path is like the morning sun that shines ever brighter until the perfect day.
When you study the sun at sunrise, it has a very bright light. However, its brightness continues to increase until the time reaches 12 pm (as described as “the perfect day” according to scripture). Then its brightness starts decreasing till it’s sunset.
So from this scenario, any Christian committed to following God will experience an ever-increasing shining path each day until the day Jesus comes again. That is glorious because no matter how many life issues you’ll face, you’ll always be more than a conqueror in Christ.
Do you have worldly people who compare your life to theirs? Do they measure how good or bad your life is because of what you have now? Don’t be perturbed. Reject any thought of comparison between you and theirs. What God is doing in you and fixing in your life can’t be seen by worldly people. So it’s okay they talk. In the end, there’ll always be a massive difference in your life as compared to theirs (that is if they don’t repent).
You may not have enough physical evidence to prove to others that God is making your life better. But when you stay committed to Him and His mission, you’ll experience an increase in every area of your life. Always confess to yourself that it shall never get worse with you.
Don’t put your hope in this world because its systems will never get better since it lies in wickedness (1 John 5:19 KJV). Follow Christ as a righteous person in Christ. It’s Him that will make you, His righteousness, have a shining path each day.
You’re a blessing.
Prayer
Father, I thank you for promising me, your righteousness, in your Word that my path will shine brighter and brighter until your Son’s second coming. Help me treasure this promise in Jesus’ name, Amen!
