[16] “A man’s gift makes room for him, And brings him before great men.” — Proverbs 18:16 NKJV
Proverbs 18:16 is one of my favourite scriptures. I love it because it speaks so much about destiny. Please read it again. “A man’s gift makes room for him, And brings him before great men.” This scripture means that for God to elevate you in life, your divine gift will play a crucial role.
Look at the life of Joseph. He was interpreting dreams and serving people, even in the land of Egypt (a foreign land to his nationality). He helped stabilise Potiphar’s home even as a slave. And on top of that, interpreted two dreams of Pharaoh’s servants while in a prison dungeon. With all these things happening in his life, who would have thought that he’d become the first-ever prime minister of Egypt overnight? God used his gift to create a position that never existed in the Egyptian government administration for him. But of a truth, he never had such a high calling into Pharaoh’s palace until his divine gift had gotten developed so sharply. Do you know what that means?
God loves you too much to expose you to higher realms of life when He knows you’re not prepared for it. If you force yourself there, you’ll be disgraced, and He will get dishonoured. To me, I think this is one of the reasons why people fail job interviews. They’ve not refined God’s gift in them, yet they’re seeking for promotion.
Your gift will make room for you. So focus on developing it even if no man encourages you. A time will come when you’ll be so indispensable and valuable in that gift that the world will pay to come and watch what you do.
You’re a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, help me refine the divine gifts You’ve deposited in me to fulfil my destiny. So that when the time comes for You to promote me, I’ll represent You well. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
