“If anyone hears my words but does not keep them, I do not judge that person. For I did not come to judge the world, but to save the world.” - John 12:47 NIV
In John 12:47, Jesus says plainly that hearing God’s Word is different from keeping it. When He was saying this, there were Israelites around Him, of which some believed in Him as the Messiah, and others had doubts. Jesus’ sermons were always Spirit-filled and accurate in Truth. Yet, it mattered (and still matters) to Him that people should keep His Word instead of merely listening to Him.
Yes, I understand we hardly remember every sermon we hear. But one thing is sure: when you consistently spend time meditating on the Word, you’ll get more spiritual insight. And that will make your heart anchored in Jesus’ teaching.
Many people have heard about Jesus. Probably, you’re one of them. But you can decide to keep His Word in the midst of your heart today. How?—By loving Jesus and obeying His teaching from a realm of good spiritual understanding.
God is not a respecter of persons (Acts 10:34). His Word works for just any believer who takes it seriously. It could be that you’ve been to places where the things practised are contrary to what’s written in the Bible. Can I tell you this? Be determined to be different. Take God’s Word as it is. Read it! Study it. Confess it. Practice it. You’ll see your life progressing in spiritual transformation because your mind will undergo renewal. Avoid being discouraged by the mockery of people. Live your life unto His glory, not unto men’s pleasing.
You’re a blessing.
