[15] “So then, brothers and sisters, stand firm and hold fast to the teachings we passed on to you, whether by word of mouth or by letter.” – 2 Thessalonians 2:15 (NIV)
When I was born in 2000, there weren’t advanced technologies like today’s. Artificial Intelligence wasn’t even part of the conversation. But today, there are better phones, better equipment, and more advanced ways of doing things. Why? Because we live in a world that is constantly changing. Many people are caught up in the trends, which is both good and bad.
First of all, keeping up with industry trends as you work is good, especially if you are in the technology field. But character-wise, it’s wrong to follow the trend. Why? Because what’s good and evil are already defined by God, and no cultural teaching can change that. For example, many sexually transmitted infections have evolved because people refuse to stay in the confines of marriage when it comes to sex. Think about that! This may be one of the many ongoing bad things in this generation that could have been avoided.
Paul knew that a time would come when trends and bad cultural traditions would come and attack the Word the Thessalonian church had received. So he told them to stand firm and hold fast to the teachings passed unto them. Today, if you are a believer and facing persecution wherever you are because of your faith, remember this Word.
Keep the Word strongly in your mind. Because I tell you, the things of the world will come and test your resolve. And in those times, it is the Word stored in the reservoir of your heart that will save you.
You’re a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, help me to keep Your Word strongly in my mind no matter where I am. May I live adamant to the ways of the world. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
