Listen To Jesus

“Whoever listens to you listens to me; whoever rejects you rejects me; but whoever rejects me rejects him who sent me.” - Luke 10:16 NIV

In a generation of many voices, God hasn’t ceased speaking to His people through His Son (Hebrews 1:1-2). However, we face two main problems when we listen to Jesus.

  1. Not hearing His voice clearly or discerning His voice well.
  2. Mistaking His voice for another voice.

The Bible says that the Holy Spirit knows the mind of God (1 Corinthians 2:11). And before Jesus went to heaven, He said that whatever the Holy Spirit hears will determine what He says to us, the children of God (John 16:13). Now that means the Father, Son, and Spirit, coexisting as One God, continually have conversations and thoughts concerning us. Why do I say this? If there are no thoughts, there’ll be no words to speak. So if God thinks about us, then His Spirit tells us what we need to know about Him.

However, here is the case we’re colabourers with God (1 Corinthians 3:9). And that means, we minister unto God (Acts 13:1-3), unto ourselves as Christians (1 Peter 4:10), and also unto the world [for their salvation in Christ — our ministry of reconciliation (2 Corinthians 5:18-20)]. Jesus has sent us. If the sent of God carries His Word, the world must listen to Jesus through those He has sent. When you reject the voice of the sent of God, you reject Jesus who sent him. You may not see the implications of what you’re doing, but in no time, it’ll reflect in your life being untransformed.

We must be careful how we treat the ministers of God, even though each one must prioritize one’s intimate relationship with God. Friend, are you planted in a church or ministry receiving sound doctrine? Stay there and learn. It’ll help you. I pray God strengthens you to do this diligently.

You’re a blessing.
