[2] “Hear my cry for mercy as I call to you for help, as I lift up my hands toward your Most Holy Place.” – Psalms 28:2 (NIV)
As a believer, when you’re so focused on the Word of God and what He has called you to do, many things won’t happen to you as the people in the world do. You’ll not see so much evil around you because God will prevent you from spending much time with such people. But definitely, there come some times when people around you become unreliable in seasons of distress. And in those moments, if your devotional life unto God isn’t well-built, you can be in trouble.
Look at Jesus’ life. When He agonised about His death on the cross, for which He shed tears of blood, His disciples were not around Him. He went through pain, so much that an angel had to appear from heaven to strengthen Him (see Luke 22:41-44). Several ministry leaders go through this trial at least once in their lives. David faced that. His wasn’t as terrible as Jesus’ own. But in the midst of that, he poured his heart to God. In fact, a whole Psalm 42 was written by him as he spoke to his anguished soul.
In the midst of turbulent circumstances, don’t run away from God like what Adam and Eve did in the Garden of Eden after they ate from the forbidden tree. Instead, run to God. Speak unto Him. Tell Him what David said in Psalm 28:2, “Hear my cry for mercy as I call to you for help…”. Speak in tongues if you can. Talk to Him. He’ll be there to calm you down. And just in case you’re married or in a godly relationship leading unto marriage, let your spouse or beloved know about what you’re going through and pray together. Remember that God is always reliable. Trust Him. He’ll be with You.
You’re a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for being reliable in my life every now and then. Help me overcome anxiety whenever it sets in my life, and give me a few reliable people who’ll stand with me in those seasons of my life. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
