[11] “Wealth gained by dishonesty will be diminished, but he who gathers by labor will increase.” – Proverbs 13:11 (NKJV)
In a highly economic world, there are several ways of getting money in this generation. And to tell you the truth, many of them are not good. Why do I say that? We live in an evil age, where people don’t care about creating evil systems to generate money from people to share with others. And most users of these platforms’ users become gamblers without even knowing. An example of such acts is sports betting.
According to the preacher, Solomon, in Proverbs 13:11, any wealth gained by dishonesty (King James Version will say “vanity”) will be diminished. But before I move to the next part of the verse, let’s analyse what is written here.
God’s Word isn’t denying the fact that people won’t get wealth in dishonest ways. As for the money, they’ll get it. But a judgement has been passed on it from heaven. And that is, such wealth will be diminished. Translated word “diminished” means to become small. Therefore, anyone who gains wealth through dishonest means will be rich in monetary terms, but his riches will be short-lived. That is why I am not surprised why some people become rich so fast and end up dying poor. Aside from not having adequate wisdom to manage finances wisely, most of these people gained their wealth using dubious means. Are you a part of the people I’ve described? Then it’s time to repent and switch to becoming the second aspect of the scripture, which says, “… he who gathers by labor will increase.”
The New International Version of the Bible translates this part of the scripture as “… whoever gathers money little by little makes it grow.” So according to the clear interpretation of scripture, if you save money little by little, you’ll increase it, no matter how little you save. I’ve learnt something about wealth creation in a godly way – practice consistency in saving money. Don’t spend everything you get. There are rainy days ahead. So be prepared. God be with you!
You’re a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, help me consistently save money so that I’ll not be named among the poor in this highly economic generation. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
