Gather Enough Harvest While They Are Available

[6] “Go to the ant, you sluggard!
Consider her ways and be wise,
[7] Which, having no captain,
Overseer or ruler,
[8] Provides her supplies in the summer,
And gathers her food in the harvest.” – Proverbs 6:6-8 (NKJV)

Life is in seasons. There are seasons of plenty and seasons where little resources are available. If you don’t grasp this understanding well, you’ll live thinking every day should be evergreen in your life, which you may rarely get. As for me, I have realised that the older I get, the more issues I have to step up and deal with. Maybe it’s the same for you, or maybe not. But the ant has a lot to teach us.

In Proverbs 6:6-8, the Preacher said something profound meant to target those who are sluggard (lazy). He said that they should go to the ant to learn wisdom. Ants, having no captain, overseer or ruler, provide supplies during summer and gather their food in the harvest. Why? Because that animal knows that during rainy seasons or unfavourable weather conditions, it cannot go out in search of food; otherwise, it’ll die. That is how you should manage your life, dear one.

If you have a job today, don’t say it’s a stable source of income, so you’ll spend everything you get and not save some. Another solemn piece of advice is that you shouldn’t depend entirely on your salary as your only source of income because when there is a layoff, or it dries up, you’ll be in serious trouble. Gather enough harvest while they are available. Invest in several ventures while saving some money also because the walk-in life is too long to risk not planning and living with the future in mind.

You are a blessing.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for Your grace and affection. Help me to gather enough harvest while they are available, lest I spend everything I get on needless things. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
