Wisdom Is Found in Those Who Take Advice

[10] “Where there is strife, there is pride, but wisdom is found in those who take advice.” – Proverbs 13:10 (NIV)

Strife, anger and pride are friends. When you see a person gushing out words in anger, causing strife among others, you can be sure that pride is on display. Such people rarely take advice because they are bent on defending themselves for what they want or have done or what they want. But that is not how God wants us to live.

The second part of Proverbs 13:10 says that wisdom is found in those who take advice. That means when a person is humble enough to listen to what others say, even if it’s a rebuke, that person is wise. So wisdom is not all about what you already know and apply; it is also about adding new learnings to your life from people. One of the ways to do this is by constantly reading godly books and other academic and business books about what you are doing.

Dear one, God didn’t put all the wisdom in the world in your head. Other people already know what you want to know. So humble yourself and ask for help because if you do, you will benefit from that act. Always remember that listening to others doesn’t mean you are less valuable; it’s a sign of wisdom that you have more to learn.

You are a blessing.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for giving me wisdom. Thank you for blessing me with friends who have what I don’t have so I can request them to help me with what I need from them. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
