Abound in the Grace of Giving

[7] “But since you excel in everything —in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete earnestness and in the love we have kindled in you—see that you also excel in this grace of giving.” – 2 Corinthians 8:7 (NIV)

Giving is a dimension of grace. If a believer doesn’t have it, he’ll hardly give or support any cause in God’s work. That is why there are several believers who are ready to receive God’s Word but reluctant to give monetarily when the need arises. The Corinthian church was an example of this. They abounded in faith, speech, knowledge, complete earnestness and love. But they lacked the grace to give.

Receiving spiritual food from a source without sowing into that source is not wise by the standards of scripture. Real men of God don’t need any congregant’s money to be blessed. No! God blesses such people with His own riches, which are unlimited.

Today, if you’re reading this, make up your mind to abound in the grace of giving. In fact, don’t just read. Start giving more to ministry and people in need. Remember that it is of more blessing to give than to receive (see Acts 20:35). Let God guide you, pray for your pastors and keep helping His work.

You’re a blessing.

Prayer:

Father, in the name of Jesus, I pray that I’ll abound in the grace of giving. Help me to help people in need from a heart of compassion. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
