It Is Wickedness to Borrow Never to Pay Back

[21] “The wicked borrow and do not repay, but the righteous give generously;” – Psalms 37:21 (NIV)

Did you know that God wants each person to experience abundance on purpose and to live a generous lifestyle? But with the economic pressure in this current world, many people are borrowing money from people with no intention of paying back. For that behaviour, God’s word says only wicked people do that.

Psalm 37:21 tells us that it is wicked people who borrow money but don’t repay it. In other words, it is wickedness to borrow never to pay back. But let’s look at something in the verse.

Did you realise that the scripture doesn’t add the word “money” after the word “borrow”? It implies that even though money is the primary thing people like borrowing, it’s actually wicked to borrow other things, like a room (interpreted as rent), a material possession, or just anything without giving it back to the owner.

God doesn’t bless thieves. If you borrow someone’s thing and don’t send it back, you’re wicked. Stop destroying relationships with people with this evil behaviour. Owe no man anything except for love for one another (see Romans 13:8).

You’re a blessing.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for Your divine provision in my life. Help me to have an abundance of possessions, so I can become a blessing unto Your kingdom and generations. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
