[7] “Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for Him;
Do not fret because of him who prospers in his way,
Because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass.” – Psalms 37:7 (NKJV)
One thing I’ve observed after studying the lives of many people I interact with is that a greater percentage of them lack patience. That is especially true for the millennials and Gen Z’s. They ask their parents for things, and they want it right now. What about instant messaging apps? Have you realised that because people demand fast replies to messages, they’ve become impatient in demanding things from their friends?
David was a man after God’s own heart. He never lacked anything he wanted because he was a king and probably had access to the entire wealth of Israel. But he wrote in Psalm 37:7 that “Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for Him…”. Really? David didn’t allow his position as a king to thwart his desire to seek God for direction. It’s the same for us.
Sometimes, you have the time, resources and people to make a dream happen instantly. But you pray to God, and He tells you to wait. What will you do? You must obey Him.
God knows the end from the beginning. If He tells you to rest and to wait patiently for Him, He is trying to save you from encountering trouble you could have avoided. Never think you’re wiser than God. Stay humble and live being guided by His direction.
You’re a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for Your love and affection. Help me to wait patiently for You concerning anything I ask You to do in my life. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
