God Has Given You What It Takes to Plan

[9] “A man’s heart plans his way,
But the LORD directs his steps.” – Proverbs 16:9 (NKJV)

A few months after I was born again, I used to ask myself why it is necessary to plan if the Holy Spirit can do whatever He wants with our lives. I just didn’t understand that planning and orderly living are spiritual. Guess what? I messed up sometimes, especially when using some resources in my life at that time. But one day, I picked up the Bible and flipped to John 16:13, where Jesus said something stunning about the Holy Spirit. He said,

[13] “However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.”

John 16:13 (NKJV)

Wait a minute! The Holy Spirit will hear from Jesus about what is ahead of us (the future) and tell us to follow suit. So, living with the future in mind or knowing what is yet to happen in your life or on Earth is not merely for prophets. It is for every believer. Isn’t that great news? It is. Right? But there is more.

If the Spirit can show you the things to come, then God has given you what it takes to plan your life. Why? Because once you get to know where God is taking you, you’ll live and make sacrifices to follow that direction.

The spiritual life isn’t a disorderly life, where God does things without planning. No! There are spiritual patterns to follow. There are things to do to actualise every divine vision in your mind. I believe in God instructing us to make certain decisions in hard times. That is a test for us, to see whether we will obey Him. However, this is not usually the case.

See, life is so easy and fulfilling when you’re following God’s plan every day. A haphazard life is hard to manage. Don’t subscribe to it in any way.

You’re a blessing.

Prayer:

Father, show me the things in the Spirit that You’ve called me to bring them to light, so my life will flow in Your direction. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
