[19] “Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest and repent.” – Revelation 3:19 (NIV)
When a child is born, he is surrounded by loving parents and some family members who take care of him. But as the child grows and he starts to do bad things, what do the parents do? They discipline the child. Right? Now, parents know that disciplining a child is painful for him, but they do it anyway because that is the way they must ensure foolishness bound in the child’s heart will be taken away (see Proverbs 22:15). God disciplines those He loves, even though He knows it is painful.
When you get saved, you become God’s child. And even though you can mature in the Spirit, it doesn’t negate the truth that you are still God’s child. For example, a twenty-five-year-old son of a parent is still a son even though he’s mature. Right? Since you’re God’s child as a believer, regardless of your rank in the Spirit, you are still subject to His disciplinary actions if He has to do it to you to straighten your life.
God is not a respecter of persons. No matter who you are in Christ, He is still your God. He is still your leader and there is nothing you can do against it. Have you forgotten what the scripture says in James 4:7a (NKJV)? It says, “Therefore submit to God…”.
Don’t go to God as “man of God.” No! Go to Him as you are. He knows you in every way. Confess your faults to Him and let Him purge you from every filth in your life so that by His grace, you’ll walk in the Spirit of holiness to live as Christ did.
You’re a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, purge me of my faults and failures. Cleanse my life of any filth that is detrimental to my destiny. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
