[1] Remember your Creator in the days of your youth, before the days of trouble come and the years approach when you will say, “I find no pleasure in them” – Ecclesiastes 12:1 (NIV)
I love Ecclesiastes 12:1. It is one of the most widely used scriptures by youth pastors worldwide. Why? That verse contains the instruction every young person needs today in a chaotic and evil world. God’s word encourages us to start pursuing Him early in our lives. And when we reach our youthful age, we should remember our Creator. Interesting!
Do you know that one of the most distracting seasons in a person’s life is his youthful season? Why is that so? Because in those years, the energy in life is the strongest. And on top of that, lust also increases in those years. Now you know why Paul told young pastor Timothy to flee from youthful lusts (see 2 Timothy 2:22). It is something that is there. Have you ever wondered why there are more young people addicted to social media, pornography and all kinds of secular entertainment? It is because many are not taught about how to handle youthful lusts, and since such a season meets them as they grow, they don’t get the support they desire.
Dear parent, your young boy or girl may be battling with certain addictions you are not even aware of. The best way to secure that child’s future is to teach him to remember his creator in the days of his youth. On the other hand, ensure your children love church right from their infancy. It’ll establish them in God. There is nobody that is far gone beyond the reach of Jesus. He’s able to restore you. Start pursuing God again and let Him work in you both to will and do His good pleasure.
You are a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, help me to know You more intimately. May my path never divert from pursuing Your will in my life. In the name of Jesus. Amen!
