[9] “For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich.” – 2 Corinthians 8:9 (NKJV)
Can you imagine the president of your country leaving office, coming to the streets like a commoner and relating to individuals who don’t know who he is? How will that scene be? So appalling for the president, right? Jesus is more than the president of your country. But He left His throne in heaven, came down as God in man, got crucified because of our sins and died. God then resurrected Him on the third day for our benefit. What benefit is that? That you’ll be able to connect to God.
Anybody who doesn’t have a connection with God is poor in the Spirit. So God, knowing this, decided to eliminate the problem of sin that stood between man and God (see Isaiah 59:2). That is why He sent Jesus. So Jesus was made poor (by detaching Himself from the godhead temporarily) so that through Him, you’ll become rich (in connection to God).
When your connection with God is well established, and you keep investing in your spiritual growth, a time will come when you’ll be so well vested in divine knowledge that the quality of your life will improve drastically. That is how Jesus wants your life to be. So many people chase after money at the expense of their relationship with God. Don’t fall for that trap, child of God. Keep growing spiritually, and God will prosper you in every area of your life.
You’re a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for sending Your Son to the world to come and die for us. Today, I know that Jesus was made poor, so I’ll become rich in connecting with You. Help me to walk in the consciousness of Your knowledge. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
