[54] “Then He also said to the multitudes, “Whenever you see a cloud rising out of the west, immediately you say, ‘A shower is coming’; and so it is. [55] And when you see the south wind blow, you say, ‘There will be hot weather’; and there is. [56] Hypocrites! You can discern the face of the sky and of the earth, but how is it you do not discern this time?” – Luke 12:54-56 (NKJV)
Life is about times and seasons. I learnt this the hard way a few months after graduating from the university. My responsibilities started increasing to a level I never thought they’d be. But when I realised this truth about interpreting times and seasons in the scriptures, it relieved me of so much pressure.
God is powerful, and even though He has a lot of things to do through men in this world, He doesn’t rush. He works in times and seasons as far as the Earth is concerned, even though He Himself doesn’t live in time. There was a time when the law was functional, and there was a time when He sent Jesus physically to the world to come and die for the atonement of humanity’s sin. Today, Jesus is no longer on Earth but still functional, mainly through the Holy Spirit in each believer, His servants and His Word.
However, when Jesus came to the Earth, the Pharisees found it hard to discern that the long-awaited Messiah was here. They never believed in Him. As a matter of fact, they killed Him, thinking they were doing God a favour. But God never loses.
When you are careful about interpreting the times and seasons of God’s handiwork in your life, you won’t miss His moves in your life. Furthermore, you will build patience to engage Him as He fulfils His promises in Your life step by step. Avoid living to please people by always doing what they want you to do. Stay with God, and be patient. He will lavish you with His provisions step by step.
You’re a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, help me always discern Your times and seasons in my life for the manifestation of Your promises step by step in my life. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
