“For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favour lasts a lifetime; weeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning.” — Psalms 30:5 NIV
Did you know that God’s favour lasts a lifetime? Maybe you don’t believe it. Let’s read the anchor scripture for today’s devotional again.
“For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favour lasts a lifetime; weeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning.”
Psalms 30:5 NIV (boldface mine)
Many times some people quote the second part of this scripture, leaving the first part. Today, I’m focusing on the first part.
You may have done some foolish things before God in the past years of your life. He may have been angry with you. But hear the Word of the Lord: “… but his favour lasts a lifetime.” In other words, He will continue to load you with more daily benefits (Psalm 68:19) despite your past mistakes and faults.
God is so good. He’s not like a man who gets angry today and doesn’t want to have anything to do with you again. No! He doesn’t remember your past sins. But that doesn’t mean you should always mess up and expect Him to clear the mess. He’ll not stop giving you the opportunity to enjoy His benefits as you learn from your mistakes.
Don’t be overcome by condemning thoughts from the devil, making you feel less than before God. It’s a lie. Believe that God is willing to receive you whenever you come before Him.
You’re a blessing.
Prayer
Father, thank You for assuring me that Your favour lasts a lifetime. I know that You’ll never stop loading me with benefits as I choose to serve You. This one also, I believe! In Jesus’ name. Amen!
