[5] “For His anger is but for a moment, His favor is for life; Weeping may endure for a night, But joy comes in the morning.” — Psalms 30:5 NKJV
What trouble are you facing today? Is it delayed approval of a document, an appointment, a job, admission or something else? Maybe you feel desperate since your heart’s desire hasn’t gotten met. I want you to be encouraged in today’s Word reading, the second part of Psalm 30:5.
“… Weeping may endure for a night, But joy comes in the morning.”
Your weeping time has an expiry date. It doesn’t endure for two nights, but a night. Joy comes in the morning.
When the Psalmist talks about a “night” in the scripture, it doesn’t literally mean the nighttime of today, even though many people shed tears on their beds at night rather than in broad daylight. It signifies the dark moments in life where you cannot really trace what God is doing. In Psalm 16:11 NKJV, the Psalmist says,
“You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.”
So in God’s presence, there’s fullness of joy. Linking this understanding with what’s written in Psalm 30:5, it means weeping time is only when God’s presence seems missing in your life – where you have every reason to question God because things aren’t really working out as you want them to. But there’s good news: it has an expiry date. And that date isn’t in years, months or days. It’s when you discover God’s reason for doing things in His presence.
The morning of the Lord is the awakening of God for your sake. Today, it may look like things aren’t working out. But can you trust Him? He has never left nor forsaken you. He is with you and will perfect everything that concerns your life (Psalm 138:8). Be encouraged to move forward in Christ.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for assuring me that my weeping time has an expiry date. Help me understand the various times and seasons You’ve arranged in my life. Teach me to trust You when I can’t trace You. I affirm that everything will work out for my good according to Your divine purpose. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
