“If you are willing and obedient, you will eat the good things of the land;” — Isaiah 1:19 NIV
God never created us to struggle. We see in Genesis how He created everything man will ever need to have a fulfilled life, both the spiritual (His presence in Eden) and physical (creation). However, the fall happened in Genesis 3. And since then, man has struggled to regain that Eden experience before the fall.
Thank God for Jesus Christ, who has not only been sent to seek but also to save that which was lost (Luke 19:10). His mission includes delivering lost people, transforming the saved, as well as affecting every area of life with the principles and systems of God.
But upon studying the Bible, I find something interesting in Isaiah 1:19. God says, “If you are willing and obedient, you will eat the good things of the land.” These were prophetic words God uttered unto Isaiah about the New Testament believers, who then put them into writing for our learning (Romans 15:4).
God is saying that to enjoy the good things of the same land where multitudes struggle to find food and make ends meet, stop focusing on your toils; but with a yielding heart, simply obey Me.
To the natural man, that’s foolish talk. Why? Because such people cannot discern spiritual things (1 Corinthians 2:14), and due to their predicament, it’s common to see them mock believers in Christ for doing God’s work.
I want to encourage you strongly that you don’t need to struggle like how that unbeliever does to prosper. No! Submit yourself to the Lord and obey Him. Don’t just obey His commands through the Spirit’s leadership; love Him deeply, and it’ll be easy to submit to Him. That’s the meaning of what Jesus said in John 14:15 (NKJV).
“If you love Me, keep My commandments.”
Do this, and you’ll have a thriving life.
You’re a blessing.
Prayer
Father, I pray in the name of Jesus, cultivate a yielding heart in me, that submits to Your Spirit’s leading every time, that my obedience to Your will be an unending loving pleasure. Amen!
