“for the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.” — Luke 19:10 NKJV
25th December is a memorable day each year because it’s a day marked to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ — the saviour of the world. Even though it’s not the specific birthday of Jesus, for its popularity and preaching, it’s still acceptable before God. But my question is, why will we celebrate Jesus without knowing what He came to this Earth to do?
There are several verses in the Bible where Jesus explained His purpose for coming to the Earth. But one stunning one is Luke 19:10, where He said that He came to save that which was lost.
While reading one of Pastor John Bevere’s books, I understood that this scripture isn’t just for evangelism. It cuts across every aspect of our lives. Jesus didn’t say he came to seek and save the lost, but “… that which was lost.” So one of the primary missions of Jesus was to restore everything in disorder back to order. That includes marital relationships, purpose misinterpretations, wrong doctrines, life definitions, etc., primarily through His Word in our minds.
As we celebrate the birth of the prince of peace today, never forget that you are who you are because of Him. Enjoy yourself, and feast together as a family. But do everything to glorify Him. And as you move on with your life, always give Him the space to effect changes in Your life that’ll glorify the Father of lights.
You’re a blessing.
Prayer
Father, thank you for sending Your Son to come and save that which was lost. Any aspect of my life that isn’t transformed by Your mighty power, I pray that You’ll bring it to the subjection of Your Word. Let me not forget that this Christmas is for your glory and not my feasting. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
