God Doesn’t Want You to Steal

[28] “Let him who stole steal no longer, but rather let him labor, working with his hands what is good, that he may have something to give him who has need.” – Ephesians 4:28 (NKJV)

Thieves are one of the most troublesome people in society. They steal what others have used their hard-earned money to get. Some get caught, prosecuted and sent to prison. But some don’t. However, the question has always been about why people steal.

Aside from thieves being too lazy to work and having a questionable upbringing since infancy, most of them steal because they don’t have money or even what to eat. One time, I heard a story of someone giving money for an offering by another person in church. When the person came to church, another person saw that instead of putting everything given to him in the offering bowl, this person pocketed a part of the money. So this brother was questioned by the one who saw him. Guess his response? He said he didn’t have money to eat.

This world is such a strange world. Many people struggle to make ends meet. But are we believers supposed to be struggling? No! Aside from God meeting our needs in supernatural ways, He commands us, through His Word, that we shouldn’t steal but work. So, dear Christian, God doesn’t want you to steal. He knows that your full potential will be brought to bear through work.

Don’t treat work as a curse. No! Treat it as a privilege that puts demands on your potential while giving you financial rewards. It is well with you!

You’re a blessing.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for the gift of work. May I never grow weary of work whenever it’s time for it. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
