“He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for My sake will find it.” - Matthew 10:39 NKJV
Many people exist, but some don’t live because their lives aren’t connected to Jesus. Funny enough, such people think they’ve found life. So, they want to enjoy it to the fullest. They don’t know that life isn’t just about enjoyment but purposeful service for impact.
According to Matthew 10:39, Jesus explains how to find your life (that is, find why God brought you on this earth). It’s simply by losing it for His name’s sake. That sounds crazy, but it’s a kingdom principle. It’s just like telling someone to give unto the Lord and expect greater returns without any physical guarantee that it’ll work. Can I tell you something? Farmers don’t complain when sowing their seeds. They believe their returns will always exceed the amount they sow to the ground. How much more us Christians? We’ve got to lose our lives for Christ.
How do you lose your life? By serving Jesus with grace in your heart. There are many impactful things you never know that you can do until you lose your life for Christ.
You cannot serve Jesus acceptably without following Him. John 12:26 (NKJV) says,
If anyone serves Me, let him follow Me; and where I am, there My servant will be also. If anyone serves Me, him My Father will honor.
Labourer of the Lord’s vineyard, don’t allow anybody to make you believe that your service in God’s kingdom is a waste even if you don’t get paid (or paid far less than expected) for doing it. It’s through these same works that make your life spendable by God for kingdom exploits.
You’re not wasting your life for serving Jesus. Instead, you’re losing to keep it for eternal life. Don’t be afraid to lose your life for Jesus. He will not fail you. The earthly things unbelievers seek will be magnetized unto you without any struggle if you follow Him. Avoid comparing your life to an unbeliever. For life doesn’t consist of the abundance of possessions (Luke 12:15).
You’re a blessing.
