[35] On the same day, when evening had come, He said to them, “Let us cross over to the other side.” – Mark 4:35 (NKJV)

How does it feel to work so hard with your boss and go home late for a while? For some, they’ll start thinking of resignation from that workplace. Hmm. Well, I’ve heard so many people say they hate their bosses. But what if your boss is God? Will you hate Him if He tells you to start something you’ve never planned to do? Of course not. But many delay obeying Him because they are too used to their comfortable way of living. Meanwhile, they don’t know that every delay in obeying God’s instruction affects generations.

Jesus, after a very tiresome day in ministry, decided to sail to the other side of the sea. It was evening time and had just dispersed the crowd who came to hear His ministration. I presume Jesus was tired. That may be why He slept in the boat while the former fishermen like Peter and James took care of the ship sailing.

However, what surprised me in Mark 4:35 was that none of the disciples complained when Jesus told them to sail to the other side of the sea. They were all tired, but they obeyed His command. If your leader in Christ tells you to do something ministerial in the middle of the night, will you complain or do it willingly?

I’m a minister. So, I understand how, sometimes, ministerial tasks pile up and have to be done as fast as possible. So when your pastor calls you at odd times, do what He tells you because you might never know why he’s calling you at that time, especially if he’s not used to calling you in those hours.

However, when it is God telling you to do something, forget about how uncomfortable your life will be and do it. Usually, obeying God is about how generations will get blessed by honouring it, not how uncomfortable your life will be. No great man in God’s kingdom has a normal life. So don’t settle for normalcy as God’s child while you’re called to do big things. Follow God’s leading even in discomfort, and you’ll not lose your eternal reward.

You’re a blessing.

Prayer:

Father, help me to set aside my fears and instability in my mind to follow Your leading. I pray that generations will benefit from my sacrifices today. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
