[28] “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. [29] Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. [30] If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith?” — Matthew 6:28 - 30 NIV
Solomon is considered the richest man that ever lived on the face of this earth. Although during his time of existence, the world didn’t have the tools to calculate net worth, I believe he was still wealthier than any rich man in today’s world. And like any rich king of the Old Testament, he loved displaying his wealth, wearing royal and expensive clothes merely to show off. He didn’t need prayer to get material things because he had everything. But look at what Jesus said about him in Matthew 6.
Jesus said that even Solomon, in all his splendour, wasn’t clothed as great as the flowers of the field. Wow! In other words, the beauty of the flowers outweighs that of Solomon’s clothing. That implies that God isn’t a retrogressive God when it comes to Him clothing His creation. He’s unchanging yet very progressive.
Today, more beautiful clothes are manufactured in factories each day. And people spend money buying these clothes each day.
Now, if even unbelievers, who don’t know God, know how to buy good clothes and perhaps dash or sell some, how much more do you, child of God? What shows God cannot clothe you? What makes you think God won’t supply the finances you need to take care of His temple, which is your body (see 1 Corinthians 6:19)?
The principal reason why God will clothe you completely is because He has created you with a mission to fulfil. And you can’t do that naked.
Dear friend, I want you to believe in what you’re reading today. Do not worry about what you will wear. It’s in God’s mind to supply that need. Whenever it’s time for Him to fill your clothing bales with new ones, He’ll tell you, usually as an idea in your mind, help you plan and allocate finances for it, and get them for you in His time.
Be so focused on serving Him with gladness of heart by His grace’s empowerment. And all these cares of life will be fulfilled with ease.
You’re a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for Your immeasurable grace upon my life to provide all my needs. To anyone struggling to get good clothes to wear, bless them with more than enough as they trust You to fulfil what You’ve commanded. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
