[2] Then the twelve summoned the multitude of the disciples and said, “It is not desirable that we should leave the word of God and serve tables.” – Acts 6:2 (NKJV)
Serving in the ministry for the past six years (as at the time of this writing), I can testify from experience and interactions with other ministers that many struggle with administrative work because their ministerial structure isn’t functioning well or hasn’t been adequately laid out. Because of that, several pastors aren’t able to spend as much time with God as they should because they are distracted. A similar thing was about to happen in the early church days, but it was corrected.
In Acts 6, a case arose among the believers because sharing food became biased since the church was dwelling together. So, the people wanted the Apostles to come and resolve the issue, which wasn’t bad. But Peter said, “It is not desirable that we should leave the word of God and serve tables.” If it were to be today, keyboard soldiers on social media would say that church leaders have disrespected the people. But the Bible is the Bible.
As a minister of the gospel, no matter how busy you are doing other things in your life, do not neglect the ministry of the Word and prayer. Please don’t do that for any justifiable reason. When you neglect your fellowship with God, every other area in your life will begin to decrease in productivity because divine strength will be missing. Labour well in building and maintaining an excellent administrative system in your ministry, and you’ll be free from excessive administrative work distractions.
You’re a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, help me to remain consistent in fellowshipping with You daily for fresh spiritual renewal. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
