Divorce Is Not in God’s Dictionary

[5] “And Jesus answered and said to them, “Because of the hardness of your heart he wrote you this precept. [6] But from the beginning of the creation, God made them male and female.’ [7] For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, [8] and the two shall become one flesh’; so then they are no longer two, but one flesh. [9] Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate.” Mark 10:5-9 (NKJV)

During Jesus’ time on earth, satan sent people to ask Him questions to test Him and find a way to make Jesus falter in speech. But in all those situations, Jesus triumphed. That means He never sinned. Instead, He said various things that now form part of the essential doctrines of Christianity. One of them was that divorce is not in God’s dictionary.

Now, some people have argued that divorce is Biblical. But according to Jesus, Moses made that precept because of the hardness of the Israelites’ hearts. However, from the beginning of the creation, God made humans male and female. And since God doesn’t change, joining two people, male and female in holy matrimony, is permanent. Anybody who rises against this doctrine is against God.

But you may ask, what about the difficult situations many people face in marriages today? Well, go to the God who joined the couple together to solve their issues.

Dear believer, you’re not of the world. If unbelievers accept divorce, stick to God’s principle of permanent marriage covenant. Don’t go into marriage with the intention that you’ll be divorcing your spouse when times are tough. No! Remove divorce from your alternatives as a married person and go to God. He will help you!

You’re a blessing.

Prayer:

Father, burn bridges of divorce in my mind concerning my marital affairs. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
