Protect Destinies By Obeying God

“Then, being divinely warned in a dream that they should not return to Herod, they departed for their own country another way.” — Matthew 2:12 NKJV

Many people don’t know that destinies are connected to their lives, and that’s why we see many people misbehaving and doing all kinds of evil things, thinking it’s all about enjoying life.

Dr Myles Munroe once said (paraphrasing) that anybody who doesn’t fulfil his destiny is a generational thief. Why? Because that person has denied future generations from benefiting from his divine mandate.

When God gives you an instruction, I want to say clearly, that it’s not really about you but generations. This cuts across purpose, education, marriage and even church. Let me give you an example from scripture.

Anybody who doesn’t fulfil his destiny is a generational thief.

Dr Myles Munroe

Herod wanted to kill Jesus when the Magi came to visit him. However, the wise men didn’t know about it. So after visiting Jesus and finding a place to lodge overnight, God warned them not to return to Herod.

Since we don’t know the specific number of the wise men, I believe God spoke to one person and that person communicated it to the whole group. I’m sure of this because if they collaborated to bring gifts unto Jesus, then it meant that they were people of unity, not just wise.

Now here’s the critical point. If the wise men had disobeyed God, baby Jesus would have been killed by Herod. The saviour of man wouldn’t have executed His divine mandate — that is, taking away the sin of the world (John 1:29). That also means there would be nothing like salvation, and people would have continued wallowing in sin worse than today.

One simple obedience has collaborated to billions of people having access to salvation today and counting. My humble request is that “can you discern the vision behind the simple acts of godly obedience?” We sometimes overlook these things, thinking obedience is an annoying thing to do rather than connecting it to purpose.

The wise men may have never known how that simple obedience helped people to date. But now you know because of today’s Word. Think deeply about the consequences of disobeying God and the number of people it’ll affect unbeknownst to you before saying “No” to God’s call. Protect destinies by obeying God.

You’re a blessing.

Prayer

Father, I pray that You’ll cause me to grow in discernment and spiritual understanding of my day-to-day activities in relation to purpose fulfilment. Broaden my spiritual understanding of divine followership while choosing to obey you with generations in mind. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
