Don’t Entertain Ungodly Thoughts

[4] “For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, [5] casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,” – 2 Corinthians 10:4-5 (NKJV)

The mind is the primary controlling area in every human’s life. Whatever you see or hear is first processed by your mind before you act on that information. And so because of this reality, both God and the devil are constantly on the move to control the minds of people. The devil uses destructive information in the world – both physically and on the internet to create and make people pursue evil ways. But for God, He uses His powerful Word and the Holy Spirit to transform lives after saving them. That is why the scripture entreats us (believers) in Romans 12:2 (NKJV) that,

“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”

As a believer, you must understand that we live in an evil age. So, the things you will see when you step out from your home or outside the brethren are most likely to be evil. Why do you think many ladies don’t care about wearing uncouth clothes half naked on the streets? Why do some guys don’t bother smoking in public? Why do some business people are daily engaged in cheating customers? These are just a few things to mention concerning the evil things happening in the world that have been programmed to bombard you with negative thoughts.

But friend, God, who knows these things are happening, cares so much about you. That is why He has given you His Word to be your guide. It’s your responsibility to study it and live it out by His grace. Don’t entertain ungodly thoughts which pop up in your mind. The Spirit of grace is stronger than any evil spirit moving around in this evil age. Guard the purity of your mind by submitting it to the teachings of the Word.

You’re a blessing.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for Your love. Help me to keep my mind pure by the power of Your unfailing Word despite the filthiness in this world. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
