[18] “This is how the birth of Jesus the Messiah came about: His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be pregnant through the Holy Spirit. [19] Because Joseph her husband was faithful to the law, and yet did not want to expose her to public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce her quietly. [20] But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.” — Matthew 1:18-20 NIV
Many godly men go through a lot when they enter into godly relationships. Sometimes, what they expect from the ladies isn’t visible. And because some are visionary, they don’t want to date or marry women who’ll not help them to fulfil their divine mandates. I speak like this because I’m also a man.
Joseph was a just man. He was faithful to the laws of God. And because of his integrity, he wanted to divorce Mary quietly after finding out she was pregnant through the Holy Spirit. What this would have meant is that Mary would be stoned to death and also accused of committing adultery since Joseph wasn’t the one who impregnated her. But God protects godly relationships from failing.
It’s just like what’s happening today. Many people, especially men, in relationships get fed up bearing with offences from their partners. But when that relationship is prophetic, God somehow causes it to stand because of generational impact. However, I see singleness and relationships as a time to develop a heart of extreme forgiveness.
The scriptures don’t tell us what Mary did when she told Joseph she was pregnant. But to me, I presume that Mary prayed for him; because her life was under a threat.
When Joseph slept and had a dream, the angel of the Lord told him not to be afraid to take Mary home as his wife. It’s not written that Joseph told Mary what he encountered overnight. All we see in the Bible is that he took her home as his wife (Matthew 1:24). What does this mean?
As a godly lady, if you get a godly man to date you, tell him the truth about your life. He might hate the truth; but when you pray, God can instruct him to stay with you. Don’t hide secrets from your partner to protect him from leaving your life. God will fix that. We’re all benefiting from what Jesus did today because it took Joseph to forsake his decision and obey God.
Don’t give up despite the circumstances. Protect your godly relationship from falling into the pit by bearing the challenges. Protect your marriage; because it’s not all about both of you, but generations.
Every moment of our lives is prophetic before God. Why? Because God chose us before the foundation of the world (Ephesians 1:4). That means, He had planned our destinies before each one became a blood clot in our mothers’ womb. So before Jesus came to the earth, He knew when and how He’d come. It’s the same for you. Live on purpose.
You’re a blessing.
Prayer
Oh God, with any issue going on in my current godly relationship, I submit matters to You to settle them. Help me to live by divine convictions and not rush in taking decisions that’ll affect generations because of temporary circumstances. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
