[17] “Learn to do right; seek justice. Defend the oppressed. Take up the cause of the fatherless; plead the case of the widow.” – Isaiah 1:17 (NIV)
Can you read the devotional anchor Bible verse again? This time at a slower pace? Scripture tells us to learn to do right, not “do what is right.” What does that mean to you?
God doesn’t want you to merely do what is right. He wants you to learn to do right. In other words, He wants you to live so pure and wisely that no evil finds expression in any part of your life. But you may say that’s difficult in this evil age, where business people are cheating naive people day and night to sell products at exorbitant prices, employers manipulating employees’ lives as if they are slaves, and even more wicked things happening which I can’t mention all.
Nevertheless, according to God’s Word, which never fails and has not lost a single bit of power to transform lives, it is possible. Living holy in a corrupt generation is a possibility because of the Spirit of grace.
Dear child of God, let nobody deceive you on these matters. You cannot control people’s wicked ways of living. But for sure, you can control how you respond to them. Strive not with those who cause contention among others; take up the cause of the fatherless and protect your integrity from all forms of evil practice.
May God be with you!
You’re a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, enlighten me to learn to do right things in the midst of this evil generation I’m living in. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
