Conquer the Fear of Man

[16] “So the king said to him, “How many times shall I make you swear that you tell me nothing but the truth in the name of the LORD?” [17] Then he said, “I saw all Israel scattered on the mountains, as sheep that have no shepherd. And the LORD said, ‘These have no master. Let each return to his house in peace.’ ” [18] And the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, “Did I not tell you he would not prophesy good concerning me, but evil?” – 1 Kings 22:16-18 (NKJV)

One of the fears many prophets in this generation fail to conquer is the fear of man. Several people hear God concerning matters in the world, their lives or organisations. But for fear of criticism and attacks, especially on social media, they either reframe the message God has given them to say in order to sound sweet in people’s ears or lie about it altogether. And that has become the fate of several men of God of today.

Micaiah was a great prophet in the Old Testament who lived during the reign of King Ahab. Because he consecrated himself to the Lord so much, his prophetic gift was so accurate that he could even see decisions that were happening in heaven. Every other prophet in his generation will prophesy about one thing, and he’ll say the opposite. So because of that, King Ahab and his officials took notice of him as a terrible prophet. One time, Israel was about to go to war, and as their custom was, they must enquire from the Lord to see whether they’d win the war or not before going. In fact, when they went to all the prophets, they said Israel would win. And Micaiah also said that they will win. But because he was so different, the king confronted him to tell the truth, and Micaiah did. He said that Ahab would die in the war and Israel would lose. But that was dangerous because if Ahab returned alive, they’d kill the prophet. At last, God saved the prophet.

Dear Christian, you must conquer the fear of man in anything you are doing. When you fear people, you’ll not be yourself in your own space. Fight off this evil affecting this generation, making people live as hypocrites and liars because of what people will say about them. May the Lord give you strength.

You’re a blessing.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for boldness in Spirit. Empower me to live and do everything you have told me to do without fearing what people will say about me. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
